Electricians can now receive credit for attending PLT CE Courses
Effective October 19, 2009, journeyman and master
electricians (and holders of any electrical license) can obtain as much of their continuing education credit as they
might choose from an approved course taught by an approved instructor that holds
only a Power Limited Technician license. This new opportunity results from
removing the restriction from the existing Minnesota Rules. The previous
limitation of 4 hours maximum has been removed from the new rules.
[ New Minnesota Rules 3800.3603, Subpart 5(A) ]
Journeyman and master electricians are reminded that a minimum of 12 hours of the class must be based on the NEC, whereas PLTs are required to have a minimum of 4 class hours based on the NEC.
